The wilderness of Botswana's Chobe National Park surrounding Savute Elephant Camp is home to large herds of elephant. An adjacent waterhole provides refreshment for these herds and buffalo, suni, puku and red lechwe dot the floodplains.
Savute Elephant Camp has 12 luxury tents built on raised platforms. The stylish tents are large and light with a spacious private veranda allowing for spectacular views of the surrounding areas.
The main lodge houses the cosy lounge, cocktail bar and library. Scrumptious breakfasts and light lunches are served on the maindeck overlooking the waterhole. A private leisure area has internet access and a satelite TV.
Game drives are in open 4x4 vehicles in the Savute Game Reserve and during the dry season, animals congregate around the waterholes and awesome sightings can be seen. As its name implies, elephants are often seenaround in the area. In fact Savute is the only place where lions are know to hunt elephant!
Lazy afternoons are spent at the swimming pool cooling down and even from the pool, youll be able to watch the animals as they walk past on their way to the waterhole.
Of interest in the area is the Savute Marsh as well as interesting San Rock Art in the Gubatsa Hills.
