Zambezi Queen

Zambezi Queen

The newest and most luxurious of the houseboats currently on the Chobe River, the Zambezi Queen is an expansive 45 meter vessel comprising of 14 luxury cabins, a comprehensive entertainment deck and a dining room with unobstructed views of the surrounding riverine wilderness.

The Zambezi Queen, the latest greatest 5 star houseboat on the Chobe River, glides quietly down the great Chobe River between Namibia's Caprivi Strip and Botswana's Chobe National Park.

Both sides of the river are home to dense populations of African wildlife, especially large herds of elephants ! Be different and avoid the conventional land rover safari goers. From the river the chances are good that you'll see lion, leopard, buffalo, waterbuck, giraffe, sable, eland and maybe the rare puku - all in an environment where the animals do not feel threatened. In the river you'll see crocodiles and hippo and many of Africa's most beautiful birds feed on the riverbanks of the Chobe.

The first and second levels of the boat incorporate 14 cabins. All have their own private balconies. Of the 14 suites, 4 are larger air-conditioned master suites, some with their own private outdoor areas. Each private space has been designed with the African summer in mind, and clever use of shutters situated on the outer edge of the deck and ceiling fans ensures a cool experience even when temperatures soar. The entire boat including the top deck, living and dining area, has mosquito screening.

The top 'Entertainment Deck' consists of the dining room, the lounge including a wood burning fireplace, a bar and a sunbathing area complete with private pool. There is a library of books, games and a telescope for studying the stars at night.

Activities include water-based game viewing on smaller boats; tiger and bream fishing in season; bird watching from smaller boats; land-based half day 4x4 game viewing in Botswana's Chobe National Park; cultural tour of a local village. A light aircraft situated near the base camp allows guests aerial game viewing, or to use it as a transfer shuttle to Victoria Falls or the Okavango Delta. (at an additional cost)

The minimum age for children is 8 years old
