San Camp
A safari to San Camp is a unique desert experience in the Makgadikgadi Salt Pan. From the camp you can see the curve of the earth. There is absolutely nothing out here. This nothingness is the attraction of San Camp!
Set in a reef of palm, San Camp accommodates a maximum of twelve guests and is recognised as an oasis in the desert offering you the chance of a lifetime to escape from daily stresses.
The luxury is in the simplicity of the camp's construction and fine details of the interior decor. The six white safari tents offer hot and cold running water, four poster beds and the very best percale linen. There is no electricity, and romantic lamps enhance the camp's sense of exclusive remoteness.
San Camp and its sister property Jack's Camp are the only permanent camps that offer you the opportunity to explore the Salt Pan and learn about the Kalahari.
Each day at San Camp you venture deep into the Makgadikgadi on quad bikes to explore the ancient archaeological sites and fossil beds and on foot, expect to meet and interact with a family of comical meerkats!
Once a year the Makgadikgadi hosts the last remaining animal migration in Southern Africa. And as the summer rains begin to fall, so short green grass begins to grow attracting herds of zebra and wildebeest as well as the predators that follow in their wake at San Camp.
