Moremi Game Reserve, Botswana
Created by the Tawana Tribe in 1963 and named after their chief, Moremi Game Reserve covers some 20% of the Okavango Delta. It lies within a wildlife management area that is strictly controlled, allowing animals unrestricted seasonal movement. Well known for the height of the Mopane trees, this diverse, habitat-rich region is renowned for spectacular game viewing, huge herds of animals and the chance to see a predator kill.
Around Moremi are large private reserves known locally as concessions. These areas are leased to safari companies under strict guidelines and carrying capacities. Offering the very best of safari experiences, these reserves are situated in pristine areas and are extremely private. Chief’s Island is the largest landmass in the Delta. Chief’s and Mombo Camps, superb game viewing locations, lie on the northern tip of Chief’s Island.

| Difference between Moremi and Delta |
|
Moremi Game Reserve is situated within the Okavango Delta. Similar to Chobe and Savuti, it is a reserve within a reserve. Chief's Island, a high density predator area, is within the Moremi. Large resident buffalo herds can often be seen on the water's edge. Some sections of the Moremi Game Reserve are open to the public; it can get crowded with private 4x4 vehicles. Other sections are exclusive and you can enjoy a safari without having to see anyone else.
