Okavango Delta
Okavango Delta. The channels, lagoons and islands of the world’s largest inland water system support an incredible selection of wildlife and bird species. Fed by floodwater from the Angolan highlands in June, it fans out into a shifting web of waterways and soaks away into the Kalahari Desert in the south. The water levels of the Okavango Delta vary in this vast wilderness which means that your safari experience is always changing.
Staying at more than one lodge is a great idea to combine activities for a varied safari. Some lodges, like those in the north, offer water activities such as canoeing in the traditional wooden dug out canoes called mokoro; while other lodges in the south offer land-based activities such as walking and game drives. All are excellent.
