Region - Okavango Delta

Okavango Delta, Botswana

The channels, lagoons and islands of the world’s largest inland water system support an incredible selection of wildlife and bird species. Fed by floodwater from the Angolan highlands in June, it fans out into a shifting web of waterways and soaks away into the Kalahari Desert in the south. The water levels vary in this vast wilderness which means that your safari experience is always changing.

Staying at more than one lodge is a great idea to combine activities for a varied safari. Some lodges, like those in the north, offer water activities such as canoeing in the traditional wooden dug out canoes called mokoro; while other lodges in the south offer land-based activities such as walking and game drives. All are excellent.
Okavango Delta Specials
It is common knowledge that the current economic climate has generated vast herds of special safari deals and massively reduced rates at most safari camps. As tour operators, we are the first to hear about the special offers, and with our knowledge of the Okavango Delta, we are able to pick up on the good deals and pass them on to you. Read more.
Okavango Delta Tours and Safaris
The word safari means "Overland journey on the look out for big game in Africa" and in the past hunters trekked through the region, setting up camps in strategic locations. Now the Okavango Delta is one of the most famous safari destinations for wildlife enthusiasts and travellers armed with their cameras and a curiosity for nature and the Delta's abundant flora and fauna. Water Based Camps, Okavango Delta
The Water based Camps in the Okavango are located in the Delta's permanent waterways and floodplains. Game viewing activities are restricted to mokoro rides and boating safaris along the navigable water channels. Water loving wildlife, abundant birdlife, lush vegetation and spectacular sunsets characterize a water based camp experience. Click here for a list of Water Based camps
Land Based Camps, Okavango Delta

These are lodges in the Okavango Delta that have access to land areas where game drives and walking safaris are the main activities. Camps with access to land offer better sightings of predators and plains game. Some of these camps provide water based activities during the flood season from June to September and the habitat changes dramatically depending on the season. Click here for a list of camps

Land & Water Based Camps, Okavango Delta
Land and water based Okavango Delta camps are fortuitously situated to take advantage of their watery location on the edge of either a lagoon, a river or the permanent swamps. There is always a rich diversity of wildlife at the confluence of water with the landmass and game viewing excursions can be in vehicles, small boat or mokoro on the waterways. Combining the Delta

You haven't travelled all the way to Africa just to see the Okavango Delta, but where else can you go? The spectacular thundering waters of the Victoria Falls, the largest curtain of water in the world, are a great stopover for a few nights of luxury and a variety of activities. Or visit the Savuti Game Reserve with its dry, unforgiving landscape and large herds of elephant as a contrast to the wet Okavango Delta.
