Duba Plains is a secluded getaway situated on a remote island on the extremities of Botswana’s Okavango Delta. With no other camps nearby, this is a nature lovers paradise.

Duba Plains is one of the most remote camps in the Okavango Delta, and one of my favourites. And with only 6 tented rooms, it is intimate and personalized. The camp is situated on an island, surrounded by expansive seasonally flooded plains and shaded by tall ebony, fig and garcinia trees.
Tents are large and offer an en-suite bathroom with hot and cold water. Your private veranda has views of the delta’s seasonal floodplains and is the perfect place to sip a Gin and Tonic as the sun sets over the floodplains.
The dining room and bar at Duba Plains are raised under a cool canopy of ebony and fig trees. During dinner the famous Duba staff choir will entertain you with African song and dance - and you are free to join in the festivites.
Slightly away from the main areas, you will find the swimming pool where you can gaze out at the animals. This is also where you will find a private hide which offers expansive views of the river.
The camp focuses on the incredible wildlife in the area through game drives, which are conducted during the day and at night in open 4 x 4 vehicles. The wildlife at Duba Plains has traditionally been fascinating. This is where you will find the famous Duba Boys, a pair of male lion that terrorise the area!
As the vast open grasslands and floodplains are often isolated from the mainland by deep waterways, the variety of animals is not as high as in other areas within the Okavango. However, Duba Plains has more than made up for this as it has been a high impact game viewing area. Thousands of buffalo are hunted almost daily by two different prides of lions. Often the hunting has been during the day - so our guests have had great photo opportunities.
The service at this lodge deserves a mention. The staff at Duba Plains are unbelievably friendly and efficient. I would go back purely for the experience of being totally pampered.
