Lake Naivasha
Lake Naivasha has long been a favorite playground for Kenyans from nearby Nairobi. It is a welcome freshwater lake fringed by the blue mountains of the neighbouring Hells Gate National Park.
Recent conservation efforts have seen the water levels rise again and flocks of flamingoes return to the marshlands to the north. The highest lake in the Rift Valley - Naivasha is ideal for fishing, sailing, swimming and listening out for the call of the fish eagle's at sunset.
Lake Naivasha is definitely a must have for any safari, so read more about our favourite lodges

| Lake Naivasha |
|
Lake Naivasha is situated in the Great Rift Valley, a wide fault in the earths crust that streches for 6000 kilometers through Africa. The result is fantastic scenery and waterfilled landscape birds and abundant wildlife with it. Lake Naivasha is a fresh water lake, home to thousands of bright pink flamingos making a striking picture against the soda crusted shoreline

| Lake Naivasha Lodges |
|
Lake Naivasha is perfect for families as most of the lodges are large on rambling properties with plenty of space to run around. My favourite is Great Rift Valley Lodge. Couples may want something a bit more peaceful like romantic Loldia House

| Lake Naivasha Tours |
There is plenty to do at Lake Naivasha. Take day tours to Hell’s Gate National Park and Elsamere, the former home of Born Free author Joy Adamson. The kids will love spotting white and black colobus monkeys on the way. See more of our tours to Lake Naivasha.

| When to travel |
|
Flamingos and other birds flock to Lake Naivasha in their millions in January and February making it a great time to travel. The flamingos huddle together en masse and the pink picture they paint is a natural spectacle in Kenya
