Liwonde National Park, Malawi
Liwonde National Park lies just south of Lake Malawi and is the most popular of the game parks in Malawi. At 220 square miles (580 square kilometres), wildlife in the park includes large numbers of elephant and the river attracts countless hippos and crocodiles. There are also lions and leopards and, more recently, the black rhino has been re-introduced. Birdlife is exceptionally varied. The park offers great game watching on scenic boat trips as well as game-drives.
