The Skeleton Coast’s sea breeze from the cold Benguela current reduces the day time temperatures to an average of twenty eight degrees in summer- giving permission for the Skeleton Coast to be effectively called a "cool desert"!
Accommodating up to twelve guests in luxuriouslyspacious private tents and built on wooden decks, each suite is attractively furnished and completed with an en-suite bathroom.
The main social area includes a dining room, lounge and bar area where an old gnarled Leadwood tree offers shelter from the harsh elements, allowing for a shady occasion during outdoor meals.
This is not a pure game-viewing safari as there are fresh water springs which allow for an abundant array of species to reside in including the rare desert elephant, giraffe, springbok, oryx, brown hyena, jackal and occasionally even cheetah.
These animals are spotted on game drives as they traverse the plains and if you lucky, you may even encounter a Cape fur seal waving hello.
The bird life is astronomical, welcoming photographers with an ideal shoot of flying and perched wonders.
Walking safaris through the desolate landscapes are a must and strangely so there is an incredible plant life in this arid landscape, known as the “flowering stones” - although often you have to look closely to spot it!
Other excursions from Skeleton Coast Camp include visits to the clay castles of the Hoarusib River, Rocky Point, Himba villages or shipwreck sites.
