The Desert Homestead is approximately 32km southeast of Sossusvlei and lies in a wide grassy valley, sheltered by the Nubib, Tsaris and Naukluft mountains and with views of the distant dunes of the Namib Desert in the west.
A working ranch, The Desert Homestead has 20 thatched, en-suite chalets, each with its own verandah under a latte canopy with northern views extending to the Rotterkaum Mountains. Day trips into Sossusvlei are possible from your base here at the Desert Homestead.

The horse trails offered at Desert Homestead are a great way to see the desert, even for someone like me who doesn't know the front-end from the back-end of a horse! You get a completely different perspective from horseback and it is absolutely enthralling!
