Hotel Heinitzburg was built for love! Count von Schwerin built the castle for his fiance in 1914 as a token of his love and the Heinitzburg hotel has preserved the old building and turned it into the talking point if Windhoek. This 5 star hotel is an exciting destination and even if you aren't overnighting in Windhoek, make sure to have a meal in one of the excellent restaurants
The attention to detail is visible everywhere and with only sixteen bedrooms you can be sure of personalised and exceptional service. The air-conditioned rooms all have four-poster beds and hand made wooden furniture and with its unique position on a hilltop you can be sure of beautiful views of the city.
The restaurant, Leo's at the Castle, is one of the best restaurants in town and is renowned for its exquisite cuisine. Not to mention the award winning wine cellar where you can book a private dinner for romantic occasions.
For a relaxed afternoon join the Garden Terrace for a cup of coffee and mouth-watering cake and as the sun sets enjoy sundowner cocktails and light snacks, also served from this marvellous viewpoint.
Another highlight and feature of the hotel is the large balcony with sweeping views of Windhoek and the surrounding Khomas Hochland mountains!
Spend your day in the outdoor pool, go mountain biking and try your luck at catching a fish!
Lise's thoughts on Hotel Heinitzburg:
For me the Hotel Heinitzburg is all about the views. There is certainly nothing wrong with the rooms, but how can you sit inside a room when you can sit on the veranda and see half way to Swakopmund?
