Shamwari Riverdene Lodge
Riverdene Lodge in the Shamwari Game Reserve has an African colonial feel to it, providing a homely base from which to explore the 20,000 hectare malaria-free game reserve. Riverdene offers a dedicated Kids on Safari Programme which is aimed at ensuring a unique, educational and fun family safari.

Shamwari Riverdene Lodge is a restored frontier homestead with a strong sense of place and tradition. Eighteen guests can be accommodated in the nine inter-leading spacious suites which all have their own private lounge area as well as a patio that leads onto a rolling green lawn -ideal for relaxing in the afternoon between game drives. All the air-conditioned suites are equipped with a TV, telephone and ‘his’ and ‘hers’ vanity basins.
The atmosphere at the lodge is casual, communal and relaxed. Two lounges open out onto a barbeque area and a fabulous rim flow swimming pool - the perfect place to restore, revive and have fun on hot summer days. A popular gathering spot for guests is the thatched boma with its deck overlooking the Bushmans River.
To counteract all the relaxation time at the lodge, game drives on the 20 000 hectare game rich Shamwari Game Reserve,led by experienced rangers will thrill and delight. Management of the Shamwari conservancy have won several awards and are willing to share their knowledge of wildlife and conservation with all members of the family.
Children are well catered for with a dedicated 'children coordinator's; child minding facilities; children's gift pack; children's menu; visit to the Born Free Foundation Big Cat Rescue Centre; visit to meet Themba the orphan elephant.
