Three lodges exist in the Lalibela Game Reserve, namely Marks Camp, Lentaba Lodge and Tree Tops. Each of the lodges have a central guest area encompassing a lounge, dining room, viewing deck and a swimming pool. Outdoor bomas at the Lalibela camps are a unique venue for dining around a roaring fire under the clear Eastern Cape night skies.
Children have educational fun under the supervision of experienced child minders who conduct ‘tame’ kiddies game drives and organise afternoon arts and crafts activities. The children are taught bush skills and how to idientify animal spoor – the source of much excitement.
The chalets of all three lodges at Lalibela are secluded and surrounded by wilderness. Each unit has an en suite bathroom and a private viewing deck.
Marks Camp sleeps twenty guests in four individual chalets and three family chalets; Lentaba ‘the lodge on the hillside’ accommodates sixteen guests in eight chalets; and Tree Tops Lodge, the most luxurious of the three, sleeps eight guests in four thatched tents in the tree tops, which are connected via wooden walk ways.
Rangers lead twice daily game drives in open 4x4 vehicles. Lalibela Game Reserve is home to elephant, lion, rhino and buffalo, hippo, giraffe, zebra, warthog and numerous species of antelope. Exciting night drives reveal many of the Eastern Cape’s interesting nocturnal inhabitants such as the bat-eared fox, aardvark, black-backed jackal, aardwolf and spring hare.
