Elephant Hide, Garden Route accommodation
Elephant Hide is on the outskirts of Knysna, a popular coastal town in the heart of South Africa’s Garden Route. A landmark of the town is the Knysna Lagoon and its renowned sandstone ‘Heads’, which stand sentinel at the mouth of the lagoon. The indigenous forests of the Garden Route cover the Outeniqua Mountain range around Knysna and were once home to large herds of elephant.

Magnificent elevated views over these tree tops, the Knysna lagoon and onto the mountains beyond can be appreciated from a rim-flow pool and dining deck; from the bedrooms; and from the huge oval spa baths of the five private suites at Elephant Hide. Timber and stone used in the construction of Elephant Hide provide warmth and atmosphere and furniture is plush and inviting. Under floor heating and aircon allow optimum temperature control in the suites.
Food is one of the focuses of Elephant Hide and luscious meals are served in the cushy dining room, or on the deck outside. There is much to do in and around Knysna. Spend the day at the vibrant waterfront complex, packed with restaurants and boutiques; go for a boat cruise on the Knysna lagoon; laze on one of the Garden Route’s attractive beaches; or venture into the forests on hiking trails. Simply relaxing on the poolside deck at Elephant Hide is also perfectly acceptable.
