There are just twelve suites at The Outpost in Kruger National Park and each is as indulgent as the next incorporating a living area, bedroom, bathroom and private terrace. Three open sides create spectacular one hundred and eighty degree views, transparent insect screens keep the bugs out and drop-down canvas screen are an option for privacy. Décor and fittings are impressively contemporary and huge oval stone baths have incredible views over the game reserve. Quiet evaporative water-cooling keeps the heat of the Kruger National Park out whilst not disturbing the ecology.
Open-plan leisure spaces at The Outpost are equally spectacular and share the panoramic view. A natural stone wall provides shelter for the pool deck, through which trees emerge. Superb meals of an African influence are served at a vast dining table and paired with fine wines from an impressive collection.
This area of the Kruger National Park is inhabited by large herds of buffalo, elephant, lion and leopard. The lesser known eland and nyala and Samango monkey can also be spotted. Bird ‘specials’ include the Pel’s fishing owl, thick billed cuckoo and racquet-tailed roller.
