Blue Gum has wonderful places and spaces for you to relax. Enjoy sunny patios on summer days and cosy fireplaces on chilly winter evenings. Comfort, luxury and attention to detail are highlighted throughout the lodge with freshly picked flowers, percale linen and rich textured fabrics throughout.
The five mountain-facing suites at Blue Gum Country Estate are decorated in English country style and each has its own fireplace, enormous armchairs and private patio. Five additional colonial African style suites – each with its own private veranda overlooking the valley and the Klein Rivier Mountains – are situated in the manor house, which also houses a luxurious lounge and well-stocked library. All ten en suite bedrooms are equipped with mini bar, satellite TV and access to the gardens.
Guests are guaranteed of an exceptional culinary experience at Blue Gum. Depending on the weather, meals are either served in the dining room or on the patio overlooking the gardens and vineyards. Afternoon tea in the conservatory can be arranged.
During the day you may relax and enjoy the tranquil beauty of the estate, discover the many beauties of the mountainside or stroll through the property’s many vineyards and pastures. For the more energetic, mountain bike rides on the tracks along the mountain base can be arranged.
In and around Stanford, guests can follow the Walker Bay wine routes or drive to Hermanus for spectacular whale viewing in season, or browse the local South African art and craft markets. Another option is to venture further out on a day trip to the arty town of Napier; stopping for a swim in the calm waters of Arniston, with its quaint fishing village; and on to Cape Agulhas, the southern most tip of Africa where the Indian Ocean meets the Atlantic.
