The accommodation at MalaMala continues the African theme with spacious bungalows under thatch. The chalets are not particularly fancy or luxurious but they do have everyhing you need, including his and hers bathrooms and air-conditioning. With all the game activities offered at Mala Mala, you will be spending most of your time outside anyway.
Dinner, where you will enjoy venison specialties and haute bush cuisine is served in the grand old African manner, under the stars in a reed enclosed boma, a Mala Mala tradition for over 60 years. Seated around a log fire, under the starry African sky, enjoying superb food and outstanding South African wines is yet another highlight of the MalaMala experience.
Game drives are conducted in open 4-wheel drive safari vehicles in the 40,000 acre MalaMala Game Reserve. Apart from the Big 5 - cheetah and wild dog as well as lots of plains game may also be seen. General game including giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, a variety of antelope and nocturnal animals such as civet cat, genet cat, honey badger and mongoose are prevalent throughout the reserve. The 4-wheel drive safari vehicles enable the rangers to leave the road and provide you with close up game viewing and fantastic photographic opportunities.

What struck me about my stay at Mala Mala Main Camp was the safari experience. The rangers are amazing. At some lodges you just drive around and no one says anything. At Mala Mala the rangers are always telling you about the animals and the bush, it makes the safari very exciting.
The rooms at Mala Mala Main Camp are nothing to write home about, so don't go there is you are looking for lavish accommodation. Rooms are simple, but have everything you need.
