La Residence accommodates just ten guests in five extravagant suites. French antiques, Persian carpets and objects d’art collected during Liz and Phil Biden’s extensive travels adorn the rooms and sumptuous designer fabrics have been used. Four poster beds and French quilts add to the romantic charm of the suites, making La Residence a sensual destination for a honeymoon. Sash windows frame magnificent views of the Franschhoek mountains and vineyards.
Delectable food is a given at the Biden properties and meals at La Residence are exceptional. Fresh produce is locally sourced from the Franschhoek valley and wines are from the best of Franschhoek’s wine estates. Breakfasts and lunches are served on the terrace around the pool in a sheltered courtyard; dinners are a hearty three or four course affair.
Franschhoek is known as South Africa’s gourmet capital and if you can tear yourself away from La Residence, numerous world-class eateries line the Main Street. There are also many boutiques, galleries and historical sites to be visited in and around Franschhoek.
