Selous Game Reserve
The Selous Game Reserve is, to our minds, the greatest piece of wilderness area in Africa with the largest population of wild dog and giraffe in Africa. The Selous is the only reserve in Tanzania and Kenya where you can safari on foot, by boat and on game drives.

Fed by the Rufiji River, the Selous Game Reserve is perfect for a river safari. But should you want the more traditional game drive or walking safari, then don't worry, you can do that too. The Selous isn't a zoo though, so expect to work for your sightings!

Lukula Selous is a project started by two ex-hunters who now partner with Great Plains in order to create a conservation area that is as profitable to the Selous as hunting. This 300 000 acre photographic reserve only allows one group of people at any time. A Magnificent safari experience unrivalled elsewhere.

The Selous is located in the middle of Tanzania and can easily be combined with all the major reserves for a safari with a difference. A good way to end your safari is to relax on the beach in Zanzibar. The Selous also combines particularly well with the chimp trekking in Mahale or Gombe.
