Built in a tribute to the traditional Maasai homestead, Ngorongoro Crater Lodge is certainly an architectural gem. Immerse yourself in the opulence of the resort, which assures you the African experience of a lifetime.
Ngorongoro Crater Lodge’s 30 suites on stilts are certainly an architectural triumph. These bungalows are constructed of stone and thatch – but unlike the Maasai manyatta, these suites boast large panoramic glass windows overlooking the breathtaking vistas which maximise viewing pleasure during your stay at the resort.
Ngorongoro Crater Lodge is made up of three camps, which all operate independently, and have a central living area with viewing decks overlooking the awe-inspiring crater.
The sheer opulence of Persian carpets, raw-silk curtains and velvet bedspreads awaits you, as you lie back on the bed and catch the reflection of the chandelier in the large gilt mirror.
But it is the small touches which really make Ngorongoro Crater Lodge’s décor so utterly mesmerising – the vases filled with long-stemmed roses and the unique African art which graces the walls.
And there is certainly a lot to see, as Ngorongoro is located in the 8000 square kilometre Ngorongoro Conservation Area World Heritage Site in the Eastern Serengeti – a land filled with the pleasures of natural beauty and an abundance of game.
