| North Luangwa |
North Luangwa, Zambia
The North Luangwa region of Zambia is one of the wildest and most remote areas in Africa. North Luangwa National Park lies above its southern partner and shares the same geology, wildlife diversity and birdlife. However the south has enjoyed greater attention in terms of funding and conservation efforts. Consequently, the northern park is less frequently visited, leaving it completely unspoilt.
This has changed somewhat in recent years and conservation efforts have led to successful anti poaching patrols and higher numbers of game. Access is only through one of the few safari operators who have been granted permission to conduct walking safaris in the park. You can explore on your own but we do not advise it. Remote Africa Safaris operates in a walking wilderness known for lion, buffalo and wildebeest.

| Best time to visit |
|
The Luangwa Valley has two distinct seasons - the dry season from May to Nov and the wet or 'Emerald Season' from Dec to April. The coolest time of year is June and July when the daytime temperatures are pleasant, but early morning and night excursions can be cold in the open vehicles. By Oct, temps reach 37C, but the game viewing is superb as the outlying water dries up forcing the game to the riverine area.
