North Luangwa, Zambia
The North Luangwa region of Zambia is one of the wildest and most remote wilderness areas in Africa. North Luangwa National Park lies above South Luangwa National Park and shares the same geology, wildlife diversity and birdlife as its southern partner. However, South Luangwa National Park has enjoyed greater attention in terms of funding and conservation efforts so consequently, the northern park is less frequently visited, leaving it completely unspoilt.
X-Factors of North Luangwa
- Remote and unspoilt
- Shares the same wildlife diversity as South Luangwa National Park

Our North Luangwa recommendations: North Luangwa is wonderfully remote. So remote in fact that access is restricted to light aircraft. Large populations of lion, buffalo and Cookson’s wildebeest inhabit the area around Mwaleshi Camp, which overlooks the scenic Mwaleshi River. Stay for 4 or 5 nights and uncover the prolific and diverse wildlife of this area on exciting walking safaris. Learn how to track game, discover useful plant species, identify a wide variety of birds and take the time to get into the rhythm of nature and become aware of the soul of the bush. |
