Mfuwe Lodge, South Luangwa accommodation
The main lodge and eighteen chalets of Mfuwe Lodge, in the South Luangwa National Park, have been positioned to maximize views over the area’s many lagoons.
X-Factors of Mfuwe Lodge
- Raised game viewing deck
- The gateway to the South Luangwa National Park
- Swimming pool overlooking a watering hole
- One of the few South Luangwa properties accessible all year
- High density of migrant bird species
A thatched roof shades the central lounge and dining area, and the wooden deck encircles a swimming pool where guests can keep a lazy eye trained on the wildlife down at the waterhole. In-depth knowledge of this wildlife can be gained from a visit to the Mfuwe Lodge library, stocked with reference books and videos. Most of the perimeters of the luxurious chalets open up to encourage a through draft – this creates a wonderful opportunity to sleep (and bath) amidst the sounds and scents of the bush. Five suites are slightly more spacious and contain a private bar. Days at Mfuwe Lodge are filled with bird watching, walking safaris and game drives in the South Luangwa National Park discovering elephant, crocodile, hippo, antelope and many of their predators.
