Mana Pools National Park
Mana Pools National Park in Zimbabwe is situated just north of Lake Kariba and is bound by the Zambezi River. "Mana" means four which is in reference to the four permanent pools in the park's section of the Zambezi River. Richly abundant with game and birdlife, Mana Pools is an unspoilt park in the Zambezi Valley which has been awarded World Heritage Site status. Mana Pools is one of the few places left on earth where the black rhino, hounded to the brink of extinction elsewhere, can still be found. The park is only open to cars during the dry season months of May to October. During the rainy season access is by boat or foot.
