Mala Mala has three lodges - Mala Mala Main Camp, Mala Mala Sable Camp and Mala Mala Rattray's. The lodges vary in degree of luxury and price, but at all of the Mala Mala lodges you can expect the finest safari experience in one of the top private game reserves in South Africa and the world.
Mala Mala Main Camp is possibly the most original private safari camp in the Kruger area, and everything in this Mala Mala camp reflects the surrounding history as well as the commitment to the preservation of its wildlife and pristine bushveld environment. With the emphasis on the safari experience, the thatched bungalows are unpretentious, and are set in unfenced lush gardens alive with birdlife with views of the Sand River and an ever-changing parade of animals that is a hallmark of Mala Mala as a safari brand.
Mala Mala Sable Camp is a more intimate camp accommodating just 14 guests. Situated a little south of Mala Mala Main Camp, it is slightly raised with views of the Sand River as well as the surrounding animal and bird rich bushveld. The thatched suites are comfortable and have an afro-colonial feel. A large safari deck is the perfect place to watch the game pass by when not on a safari drive on the vast Mala Mala concession.
Mala Mala Rattrays Camp is a luxurious and exclusive safari experience created to offer guests a glimpse of Karen Blixen's "Out of Africa". The eight air-conditioned Mala Mala suites are regal in size and elegantly appointed with leather and fine crystal. They include his and hers bathrooms and a private, heated plunge pool. The Mala Mala camp has a fully stocked wine cellar, fitness facility and a library show casing rare African books and works of art. Game viewing drives are conducted on one of the best wildlife concessions in the world. At Mala Mala Rattrays Camp game drives are exclusively restricted to just four guests per vehicle.
The rangers at Mala Mala are employed for their knowledge of the African bush and their ability to communicate with people. They are highly qualified and will explain all aspects of ecology to you on your game drives. They will ensure that you not only see the Big Five at Mala Mala, but also gain a complete understanding of the African bush.
