The Durban route takes guests from Pretoria to Zimbali Lodge near Durban. Guests spend 2 nights on The Blue Train and 2 nights at Zimbali Lodge which is situated on the tropical coastline just north of Durban. There are two sittings for lunch and dinner. Lunch is smart-casual, dinner is jacket and tie for the men and elegant wear for the ladies, while breakfast is casual. There are 2 lounges – High tea is served in the main lounge car and the club car is where guests can relax over a post-prandial cognac. The club car is the only public area available for smoking. The Blue Train prides itself on comfort, safety and service excellence and every modern convenience is provided. The suspension, braking, lighting and under-floor heating systems are designed to maximize the guest experience of a smooth, pleasurable ride. A camera mounted on the front of the train gives guests a driver's-eye-view of the scenery ahead and is shown on a TV screen in the club car.
