As Xigera has permanent water all year round, the emphasis here is on water activities. Spend the day discovering the Delta’s many channels by poling on a mokoro (traditional dug-out canoe), or explore the area via a motorized boat. Game drives are offered in state of the art 4×4 vehicles from where an abundance of wildlife such as lion, red lechwe and spotted hyena can be seen. Guests can also explore the surrounding area on foot. The camp is a delight for bird-enthusiasts with Pel’s Fishing Owl and African Skimmer amongst a host of other species such as raptors, waterbirds and colourful kingfishers that can be seen in this part of the Okavango Delta.

The area is known for remarkable mammal sightings including red lechwe, spotted-necked otter, elephant, buffalo, reedbuck and tsessebe Predators include lion, spotted hyaena and leopard. Guests are sometimes treated to close-up views of lion or leopard using the footbridge connecting Xigera to the next island!
