Day 1 – 2 Victoria Falls : Tongabezi

Vic fallsArrive at Livingstone Airport, Zambia where you are met and transferred to Tongabezi Lodge for 2 nights.

Situated on the banks of the Zambezi River,  Tongabezi (and its sister, Sindabezi Island) are privately owned luxury lodges and a perfect base for the discerning traveller to explore all on offer at Victoria Falls.  Each house and cottage has its own valet who takes care of guests throughout their stay and act as a private concierge. There is no set pattern to your days here.  Activities include: game drives, bush walks and boating trips. The Victoria Falls can be viewed on foot in the national park, from inside the gorge, from Livingstone Island and from the air. Sindabezi Island is rated as one of the top eco lodges in Africa.

Day 3 – 5 South Luangwa : Kapani Lodge

KapaniFly from Livingstone to Mfuwe, the gateway to the South Luangwa region. It is an easy and exciting  road transfer to Norman Carr’s Kapani Lodge.

The perfect introduction to your authentic Zambian safari, Kapani Lodge ensures an excellent safari experience at all times of the year and access to many community activities for adults and children alike. Accommodating eighteen guests in rooms that are designed to keep out the heat in mid summer.  There is also a lovely swimming pool. You are in excellent hands with the Norman Carr team of award winning guides in small, remote camps, exploring a landscape unchanged for thousands of years.

Day 6 – 8 South Luangwa : Mchenja Camp

MechenjaIn true safari style you’ll move on to the next camp on foot or by vehicle… it is up to you.

Mchenja Camp is set beneath a magnificent grove of ebony trees on the banks of the Luangwa River. Mchenja is an elegant and stylish tented camp with only five specially designed octagonal tents each with their private en-suite open air bathroom plus Victorian style baths with river view. Simon Phiri is the guide/manager at Mchenja and his encyclopaedic knowledge of the plants, animals and small things of the Luangwa will make your safari one to remember. Guests staying at Mchenja can choose whether they want to view their wildlife on foot or from an open game viewing vehicle.

Day 9 South Luangwa : Liwu Riverbed Sleep-Out

Luwi River sleepout twilightTonight you’ll have to opportunity to ‘Return to the Wild’ and sleep out under the stars in the spectacular and extremely remote Luwi dry river bed with just a bed roll and a mosquito net, not even a tent!

Experience the thrill of the first safari pioneers, including Norman Carr himself, as they discovered the wonders of the South Luangwa.  Guests venture out in the mid-afternoon, find a spot to camp, make the camp fire for a game ranger’s dinner which they help to cook themselves. Then, having shared adventure stories around the fire – sleep out under the magnificent African sky whilst the guide and scout keep a watch till morning.  Up to six guests can enjoy this amazing experience.

Day 10 Departure
