Track animals on foot in the remote Mana Pools region
The Kanga Pan in Mana Pools is a permanent water source
Hwange is Zimbabwe’s largest reserve with the highest concentration of game
Elephant lovers will be in heaven at Somalisa Camp
The best views of Victoria Falls are from the Zimbabwean side of the Zambezi River
At Kanga, the most unique and exciting activity is tracking wildlife on foot with a professional guide: the possibility to leave your vehicle, or even walk out of the camp with an experienced professional guide is a rare experience in National Parks, and this is one of the best walking territories in Africa. You will enjoy thrilling nature walks to areas unreachable by car, and get even closer to nature and the animals. The Kanga pan is the only perennial water source for quite a distance, and provides a regular watering point for elephant, buffalo and an array of plains game and their associated predators (particularly lion and wild dog).
You are transferred to the airstrip for your flight to Hwange. Here you stay at Somalisa Camp, set in a private concession in the heart of the Hwange National Park. Known for its large herds of elephants, this intimate hideaway is the perfect escape for guests seeking an experience of a lifetime in the African bush. You can look forward to guided walks and game drives, as well as game viewing from tucked away hides. All are led by qualified and passionate guides who will share their knowledge and love of the bush with you.
Each of Somalisa’s six canvas tents is decorated to tell the story of Africa; from its ancient roots to colonial opulence. Visit the camp’s main area to read at the library, relax at the sitting area, or lounge in swimming pool. Somalisa Camp endeavours to be low-impact, utilizing solar lighting out of respect for the surrounding environment.
After your morning game drive you are transferred to Victoria Falls and Elephant Camp. The Elephant camp is situated only 10 minutes from Victoria Falls in a private concession within the Victoria Falls National Park, overlooking a waterhole that is fed by natural streams during the rainy season. The streams rush down to meet the Masuwe River and the Zambezi gorges below the Falls. Walks and birding supply boundless photographic opportunities; along with the myriad of exciting, relaxing and simply stunning activities on offer at the Victoria Falls – from romantic sunset cruises to exciting elephant back safaris, heli flips, micro-lighting and of course, visiting the breath-taking Falls themselves.
