Our star travel consultant Camille and her husband took the gap last weekend, got rid of their kids and beetled out to the Cape Winelands for a well deserved overnight at Majeka House. Majeka House is one of our favourite boutique hotels and is located a little way out of Stellenbosch in a quiet residential area that backs onto the slopes of imposing vineyard clad mountains.
Camille is a good multi-tasker at the best of times – what with two busy little children, a love for trail running AND a full time travel job (that often has her on the phone to clients in America after 9pm). So it was a piece of cake for her to balance spending quality time with her husband while keeping her beady, critical tour operator eyes out for details and how things are run at Majeka House.
She came back very very impressed indeed, especially in terms of how the staff handled difficult guests (there was a power cut as a result of load shedding) and the attention to detail in every aspect of the property.

“Dinner at Makaron was delicious! We had starters and main but couldn’t quite fit in the desert. I loved the little touches, like the breads and amuse bouche. Also the mini ice creams at the end of the meal. They were so perfect! Another thing that we loved were the boxes that the bill was presented in. All just small but very significant details that
we really enjoyed.”
