Perfectly positioned on the edge of an escarpment, which towers over the breath taking Lake Manyara in Northern Tanzania, Escarpment Luxury Lodge is surrounded by the incredible beauty of the African bush. With large expanses of windows, the lodge invites the outside in, meaning that you are never far from nature. Situated only 20 minutes from the Serena Airstrip, from where you can connect to various airstrips within the Serengeti and Kenya International Airport, Escarpment Luxury Lodge is ideally located for an exclusive, African safari getaway that offers privacy and luxury, as well as convenient access.
Escarpment Lodge is made up of 16 excellently appointed chalets, that are single, double or triple. Each suite has it’s own en-suite bathroom and private deck from which to view the lake below and watch the wildlife as it roams through the area. A colourful array of birdlife fills the trees around your deck, making the outdoor shower an interactive experience full of chattering bird song. Decorated with artefacts used in Masaai culture, the chalets boast chandeliers, leather sofas and luxurious linen.
Lake Manyara National Park is made up of a wealth of habitats and is home to a diverse selection of wildlife. Plains game such as wildebeest, giraffe, bushbuck, zebra, aardvarks and vast numbers of elephants can be seen as well as the occasional leopard. The lake is also home to 380 species of birds, such as flamingos, storks, Egyptian geese and pelicans. The area is also famous for tree-climbing lions that are said to have learnt how to climb to escape from the annoying insects below. They are the only lions that are known to do this, making the mahogany trees their homes during the rainy season.
Guests can also take a cycle tour to the nearby village of Mto wa Mbu, where there is an abundance of local artefacts for guests to buy. You can also take guided hikes into the Great Rift Valley Gorge, or take an air balloon trip across the Serengeti. Another unique activity is game viewing along the route to the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area.
