Garden Route

The name itself evokes images of the lush vegetation, indigenous forests and pristine beaches that the Garden Route is known for. An area between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth, it boasts a beautiful coastline that stretches past the towns of George, Knysna and Plettenberg Bay. With immaculate beaches, unspoilt forests and several championship golf courses to choose from, the Garden Route is an ideal family destination. Spend a few days exploring the fairyland of the Tsitsikamma Forest and the Big Tree or marvel at the scenery while kayaking on the lagoons and rivers. For the really adventurous, the Blou Krans Bridge bungee jump is one of the highest in the world and is sure to get the adrenaline racing while family hikes in the fresh air of the forest invigorate and revitalize.

Whether it’s sipping on a cappuccino in one of Knysna’s trendy coffee shops or settling in for sime fine dining in Plettenberg Bay, the Garden Route boasts many excellent restaurants and watering holes that have spectacular sea, river or lagoon views. A favorite amongst South African families, we highly recommend making the Garden Route a part of your South African Summer itinerary.
