Isibindi Zulu Lodge

SKU: 13099 Category: Tag:

Isibindi Zulu Lodge is set within 400 acres of eco-reserve, offering not only game viewing, but a uniquely African experience amongst the Zulu people. Isibindi is steeped in history, considering its proximity to the Anglo-Zulu battlefields, where the British army and the Zulu fought an epic historical battle. Morning and evening game drives offer sightings of indigenous game, such as zebra, giraffe and wildebeest, including hundreds of bird species. After an evening game drive, little could feel better than a gin and tonic, a plunge in the pool and a feast waiting to be devoured under the Zulu Boma, complete with traditional music and dancing.

Aesthetically, the lodge blends into its environment, which is surrounded by bushveld, thorn trees, riverine forests and grassland.  The lodge offers traditionally inspired accommodation, from Beehive Suites, which have their own viewing deck overlooking the reserve, to the Honeymoon Suite, a private setting in a game rich area and sunken stone bath for two. Each Beehive Suite offers dramatic and unforgettable views over the reserve, where animals can be seen grazing. The suites offer every luxury that would appeal to the discerning traveller, with the added attribute of privacy. The Main Lodge has a welcoming, homely feel, with a bar, library and fireplace opening onto the deck and swimming pool. Breakfasts are served al fresco style at the swimming pool, while gourmet picnics can be packed for lunch, or enjoyed around the pool. Dinner is a three course extravaganza, complete with Zulu dancers, singers and a warming bonfire.

Guests are invited to experience authentic traditional Zulu life with Homestead Visits, including stopping for curios at a Zulu trading store, farming techniques, visiting a Sangoma (witchdoctor), a museum visit and a picnic lunch. Other popular activities include the Panorama and Cultural Tour, visiting Mangeni Falls and Bushman Rock Art

Game drives offer a spectacular view of the natural habitat, flora and fauna. Isibindi have hartebeest, several species of buck, zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, warthog, leopard, jackal, mongoose, lynx, otters and honey badgers. Birders will be greatly rewarded by the abundant birdlife.
