The majestic Zambezi River runs along the full length of Kasaka River Lodge. Located in the Chiawa Game Management area in Zambia, the camp is close to the Lower Zambezi National Park and enjoys the same abundant African wildlife as the Park and Mana Pools Heritage Site, which is across the river. Twenty luxury tents offer visitors a taste of a tranquil, laid-back African lifestyle. Indigenous bush surrounds the camp, drawing in a wide variety of birdlife. Guests can relax to the sounds of the Zambezi River that attracts African game that come to quench their thirst at its banks.

Intimate and secluded, the camp’s accommodation is designed to bring visitors closer to nature. Divided into classic tents, the Wild Mango honeymoon suite and the Hippo Pod family lodge, the en-suite tents are separated by manicured lawns that blend into the natural bush. A swimming pool invites guests to revive themselves and raised walkways connect guests to the main lodge, which has a broad deck for viewing passing game.

Unspoilt and pristine, the surrounding wilderness offers outstanding game spotting – either by game vehicle, on foot or by water. Wherever possible, experienced guides aim to make the safari experience unique and therefore design safaris to accommodate their guests. The river offers plenty of game spotting opportunities, both from the shore or from boats and canoes.

Buffalo, buck, zebra and giraffe regularly visit the river, and hippos and elephant are frequent callers to the camp. Fishing enthusiasts can enjoy tiger fishing in the river, which teams with crocodiles. When guests venture away from the river, they are sure to spot lion and some of Africa’s other big cats.

The African safari experience wouldn’t be complete without a sundowner game drive where guests get to watch the sun sink behind the horizon as it washes the sky in a vibrant, orange glow.

Kasaka is known for its excellent service, provided by helpful, friendly staff. Described as ‘spectacular’ by previous guests, the three-course dining experience is communal and the kitchen staff will do everything possible to accommodate vegetarians and other dietary needs.
