Mala Mala safari plus self-drive from Cape Town along the Garden Route

Collect your hire car and drive yourselves to the seaside town of Plettenberg Bay where you will be spending the next 2 nights.  Your self-drive journey then takes you to Knysna for 2 nights before heading to the quaint town of Swellendam for an overnight stay. The final leg of your stay leads you to the Franschhoek Winelands for 3 nights, where wine tasting & good cuisine are in abundance.

Day 1 – 5 Sabi Sands : Mala Mala

Kruger game drive tourArrive into Nelspruit Airport where your private guide will transfer you by road to the Mala Mala Game Reserve, where you will be staying at Mala Mala Main Camp.

Day 6 Johannesburg : Emperor’s Palace

 joberg skyline tourAfter your morning safari activities, you are transferred to Nelspruit Airport for your flight to Johannesburg, where you will overnight at the Peermont Resort at Emperors Palace.

Day 7 – 8 Plettenberg Bay : Milkwood Manor

garden route tour 2An early morning flight takes you to George Airport where you collect your hire car and take a scenic drive to the coastal town of Plettenberg Bay. Your accommodation for the next two nights will be at the Milkwood Manor, a Gregorian-styled manor set on the edge of a jetty near the Keurbooms River Mouth.

The Georgian-styled building of Milkwood Manor is designed for spaciousness, reflecting the vast unlimited landscape surrounding it, without sacrificing its ambience of intimacy. Enjoy views over the Indian Ocean, Keurbooms River Mouth, Keurbooms Lagoon and Tsitsikamma Mountains.

Day 9 – 10 Knysna : Elephant Hide

garden route tourrA short drive takes you to Elephant Hide Guest House in Knysna. This rustic guesthouse is perched on the Welbedacht Cliff Top, is the epitome of secluded luxury. Accommodation here is on a bed & breakfast basis.

Elephant Hide is on the outskirts of Knysna, a popular coastal town in the heart of South Africa’s Garden Route. A landmark of the town is the Knysna Lagoon and its renowned sandstone ‘Heads’, which stand sentinel at the mouth of the lagoon. The indigenous forests of the Garden Route cover the Outeniqua Mountain range around Knysna and were once home to large herds of elephant.

Day 11 Swellendam : Schoone Oordt

ostriches tourDepart Knysna and return to the Southern Cape. Break up the long, scenic drive with an overnight stay at the Schoone Oordt Country House in Swellendam, an historic farming town situated in the Overberg region.

Day 12 – 14 Franschhoek : La Petite Ferme

winelands tourDepart Swellendam and head to Franschhoek. Your accommodation for the next three nights will be at La Petite Ferme, a romantic guest house overlooking the Franschhoek Valley.

Day 15 Departure

honeymoon tourToday brings an end to your South African trip. Head to Cape Town International Airport and return your hire car before checking in for your homeward flight.
