Situated high up on a picturesque escarpment with panoramic views over the waters of Lake Manyara, Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge offers guests the perfect combination of relaxation and a rich diversity of wildlife, all with magnificent views. A huge range of activities keep guest busy during the day, while the lodge itself provides a comfortable base from which to explore. Guests can enjoy mountain biking, canoeing and forest walks, as well as organised visits to the neighbouring villages for a taste of the culture of the Iraqw and Sukuma people, who have lived in the area since time began.
Comfortable and practical, Lake Manyara Serena Lodge is situated 2kms from the main tarmac highway, providing guests with easy access to and from the venue. Constructed largely from stone and thatch, the lodge has 67 bedrooms, all with private balconies and views of Lake Manyara National Park. Well suited for families, the guest areas at the lodge are large and airy and include a spacious dining and bar area. There is also a TV room, conference room and computer room. Despite being a large lodge, it still manages to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Perched above the shimmering lake, the circular dining area has bright murals that are designed to reflecting the myriad of birdlife that gather at the lake. It also has a unique domed basketwork ceiling that is hung with colourful Maasai artefacts, such as carved gourds and nest-shaped lanterns.
Guests are advised to do their research before arriving, as there is plenty to do when based at Lake Manyara Serena Lodge. The area is well known for it’s famous tree-climbing lions, as well as an incredible array of wildlife, including elephants, monkeys, antelope, hippos, crocodile and an abundance of beautiful flamingos.
Guests can go mountain biking into the magnificent Rift Valley Escarpment, hot air ballooning, take forest hikes, guided game drives and walking safari’s into the game reserve. A three-hour night drive leaves the lodge at 7pm and offers guests an exciting opportunity to view the nocturnal wildlife in the area.
