Little Kwara Camp

Category: Tag:

Situated on a small island in the world-famous Okavango Delta, Little Kwara Camp is an intimate safari lodge tucked away on a small island. It borders the Moremi Game Reserve, which is rich in wildlife and natural, unspoilt beauty, and thanks to its location, Little Kwara is the perfect springboard from where to enjoy this unique swathe of African wilderness. Nestled among indigenous trees, the camp comprises five traditional safari-style tents, each with its own private verandah overlooking the river below. What’s more, guests are treated to year-round game viewing and safari activities, both on dry land and on the waters of the delta itself.

The décor is a rustic colonial style and the tents are spacious and private, ideal for families or couples alike. Furthermore, Little Kwara’s tents are well appointed, each with its own en suite bathroom – including an indoor and outdoor shower – plus a generously sized bath. As the tents are elevated on wooden decks, guests can spend their evenings enjoying the views of the delta and beyond.

The main area of the camp encourages a relaxed atmosphere with a small lounge and bar full of comfy sofas. There’s also a plunge pool surrounded by loungers, and in the evenings, guests are encouraged to come together after dinner around the fire pit to exchange stories of their travels. Families usually enjoy the games area where you can play backgammon or cards, while everyone seems keen to recline on the wooden decks to soak up the serenity of the landscape and the comings and goings of the animals as they wander past.

Little Kwara Camp is a seasoned safari set-up offering guests an excellent range of activities. The camp runs morning, afternoon and evening game tours, led by expert guides with a wealth of local knowledge.

Perhaps the highlight of a journey here is the magnificent views of the delta offered by the camp’s double-decker powerboats, which tower above the delta’s papyrus plants. Expect to catch a glimpse of ibis – as well as yellow billed and marabou storks nesting – since the top deck offers the perfect leverage for photographers and birdwatchers.
