Situated in the great South Luangwa National Park, on the edge of a lagoon which serves as a water source for a variety of animals, the impressive Luangwa Safari House is part of the Robin Pope Safaris family of wonderful camps in Zambia. A prime choice for a memorable safari, this house provides lavish comfort as well as a great location for the exploration of South Luangwa’s abundant wildlife – albeit right from the doorstep of the house or out on game drives or walking safaris – and is well suited to both couples as well as families (with children over the age of seven).
The interior of the large thatched house perfectly balances pristine luxury with natural rustic touches, echoing the unspoiled surrounding wilderness, yet with the comfort of premium accommodation. Attention to detail, the fusion of soft linen with African prints, handcrafted wood, copper and brass throughout the house creates a sensory delight. The house has four exquisitely furnished spacious bedrooms (double or twin) providing for a maximum of eight guests.
Each room has an en suite bathroom with double basins and showers and the Copper Room boasts a unique handmade bath. The comfortable main area provides more than ample space for relaxation and has high ceilings and an open design, inviting the fresh African air and sunshine into the house.
When not enjoying superb meals or relaxing in the pool or on the raised outside deck whilst viewing animals coming to drink at the lagoon, various safari activities are offered at Luangwa Safari House, including guided walking safaris and day and night game drives – with friendly and experienced guides passionately sharing their knowledge of this game rich area’s many wonders.
Animals to be seen here include antelope, elephant, giraffe, hippo, buffalo, leopard and lion, while ardent bird watchers must be sure to pack their binoculars, as South Luangwa is hailed as a bird watchers’ paradise, playing host to more than 400 species of birds.
Another special activity here is a cultural tour of a local village and market, providing the opportunity to find rare mementos to remind of this unforgettable visit to Africa.
