Meno a Kwena is in a beautiful location halfway between the watery Okavango Delta and the dry desert like Central Kalahari Game Reserve. Meno A Kwena It is quite a unique camp in that it successfully blends a traditional safari theme with local African culture within a spectacular landscape. From this lovely little camp, guests can experience the wildlife of the famous Kalahari as well as the vastness of the Makgadigadi Pans.
There are nine luxurious ensuite guest tents overlooking the Boteti River which is often teaming with elephants and other animals. Being the only river for miles, it possible to just sit in your suite and watch the animals come to drink. Meno a Kwena actually means ‘teeth of the crocodile’. And crocs are a common sight as they lie on the river’s banks, often within view of the camp. After game drives and other desert excursions, guests can relax in the lodge’s beautiful (crocodile free!) swimming pool with views of the river.
Both the Kalahari and the Makgadigadi reserves have fascinating wildlife such as desert-adapted meerkats, antelopes, zebra, lions and cheetah. Guests can also go on fascinating walking tours with the indigenous locals who’ll provide interesting insight into their culture, the area’s native plants and wildlife as well as sleep outs on the pans.
People (both guests and the local community of Bushmen) are key to the success of wildlife conservation in the region. Sustainable tourism practices are therefore vital. Meno a Kwena strives to maintain a sustainable balance that exceeds guest’s expectations as well as contributes to secure a future for its wildlife, people and the ecosystems they live in. Meno a Kwena tented camp provides guests with a unique African wildlife experience.
