Overlooking the stark beauty of Etosha Pans, Onguma The Fort is perfectly positioned to enjoy Namibia’s wide open spaces and blood-red sunsets. 12 suites fan out on either side of the main building, spaced about 50m apart to allow for perfect privacy.

Each suite has a fort-like turret to make the most of the astonishing views, and the front wall is made of canvas so you can roll it up and laze in bed taking in the surrounding desert scenery. Rough stone and earthy interiors are livened up by splashes of lime green and pink, and the spacious bathrooms have both an indoor and outdoor shower so you can rinse off the desert dust under a bright blaze of stars.

For the most luxurious accommodation pick the sumptuous Sultan Suite, housed in the main lodge tower. This beautifully designed bedroom opens onto a large deck overlooking the busy waterhole and you not only have an outdoor shower but a lovely deep bathtub as well.

The Honeymoon Suite is set furthest from the lodge, and drifting off to sleep here gives you the real sense of being cocooned in luxury surrounded by the sounds of the wild.

As for the main lodge, it has a plenty of cosy corners with comfortable couches and plump cushions. The large lounger-lined deck faces out across the waterhole, as does the open-sided dining area so you’ve got a good chance of looking down on springbok or warthog as you linger over your three-course lunches and four-course dinners.

All suites overlook Fischer’s Pan in the Etosha Reserve. The suites are at least 50m apart from each other, ensuring privacy. Each room consists of twin beds, fireplace, air-conditioning, viewing deck,minibar, inside and outside showers.

Honeymoon Suite

The Fort Honeymoon suite also boasts views across Fischer’s Pan as well as fireplace, air-conditioning,minibar, with the added luxury of a lounge, TV, inside and outside showers and outside bath. Heaven on earth!

Sultan’s Suite

The Fort Sultan’s suite is situated on the first floor in the main Fort complex and has commanding views across the waterhole and Fischer’s Pan. It has a bathroom with an inside bath as well as a balcony.
