Bush & Beach Safari Review

Lisa and I are safely back in the UK having had a fantastic time in South Africa.  It’s a lovely country with so much variety in the many ways we experienced with the people, lifestyles, landscape and attractions.

A key lesson for me in the SA holiday was that I have never before gone with a tour company, always preferring to complete the planning myself.  When the wedding invitation came and it recommended your name in Southern Destinations I opted for it as I did not know that part of the world and Neill said that you’d arranged a stunning trip for them previously.  I can’t stress enough that the holiday itinerary you provided Camille for Lisa and I has permanently changed my opinion and I will now favour an expert like yourself in future similar holiday planning.

All the accommodation was beautifully unique to each area – all rooms had stunning views (to the envy of other guests we met) and the décor very tasteful.  Because each hotel/lodge was a different experience in a different area they were incomparable to each other – which added to the ‘wow’ factor.   Food was fantastic throughout.

Welgelegen Guesthouse: Lisa’s favourite for decoration detail.  Great staff in help and advice.  Superb service from all and excellent room view of Table Mtn.  Achieved loads in Cape.

138 Marine Guesthouse:  A bedroom where you sit and stare for a few minutes at the ocean and the view.  Again very helpful staff.  Perfect breakfast as a whale in view and my personal favourite breakfast for taste.  Saw the whales from land and boat.

Elephant Hide Guesthouse:  Another great view of the wooded hills and lagoon.  Service again faultless from staff , especially a very helpful chap called ‘Fish’.  Great to relax the pace a bit but still achieved forest and beach walks.

Fugitives Drift:  Uncertain for this phase as never done a battlefield tour before…but both of us loved it and despite being in a group on the two tours where everyone else knew the battle details in depth!  Great accommodation and the served meals with the other guests and pre-dinner drinks is a great touch for entertainment and chatting.  Lisa, being vegetarian, had some of her best meals here and the staff  (Sharl & Nelly) went out of their way in their efforts to add variety to her meals.  Tours were great and the storytellers are masters.

Nambiti Hills Lodge:  Lisa was speechless when we walked into the honeymoon suite.  Top idea of yours there in the recommendation to go for that room.  Game drives were a ‘dream’ and we saw loads of animals including 4 of the big 5.  Other guests company on the drives were a good laugh and our ranger & tracker were very knowledgeable and amiable.  The food felt like a high star restaurant in its presentation and taste.  The management team were, on occasions, frustrating as they got a few minor requests majorly wrong, but that didn’t spoil anything, more just unexpected.

In summary the trip of a lifetime for Lisa and I.  In no small matter the key factor was your detailed input, suggestions and final itinerary that made it a wonderfully memorable holiday.
