I am going to start on my trip report. Will try not to get too winded. As I said previously, you did an outstanding job planning and executing our vacation from beginning to end.
We loved the Table Bay Hotel. Location was great, service wonderful. Loved being a VIP (after a little hick-up, not your fault) our butler was so cute when he brought our champagne every night. Had a wonderful afternoon tea there. Highly recommend Table Bay.
Charlie…what can we say. We all loved him. So much fun and knowledgeable. Very highly recommend.
Le Quartier Francais was very nice. Room was lovely along with a great breakfast. They even provided a wonderful box breakfast for our early morning departure. We did the wine tram tour one day and really enjoyed that.
Our wine area could take a lesson from them in how they do their wine tasting.
The Royal Livingstone was truly a beautiful property. Very British Colonial. One morning just as we were leaving our room we came across a brand new baby Zebra born the previous evening. How cool is that!! Enjoyed walking to the Falls, Zambezi River Cruise and high tea on Livingston Island. Les and Larry will forever remember doing the Devil’s Pool. We tried to buy a T-shirt that said “I survived the Devil’s Pool”. Told the sellers by the Falls they are missing out on big business not having the shirts. They kind of looked at us strangely.
Fun having the tents at Tanda Tula. Again great staff and service. They did a wonderful job on Lexi’s birthday celebration. Not only did a fantastic turndown service for her but served us dinner in the gazebo. Our Tracker and Guide were excellent.
Nick was great taking us to Exeter. Gave us lots of information about what we were seeing along the way. Made the 3 hour drive very interesting.
Exeter River Lodge was fantastic. Our “rooms” were gorgeous. We ended up with the larger room which was like a small cottage. Service was outstanding. Had a bush breakfast and Champagne “tree” on one of our drives, so fun. Guide Warrick was so loving his job. Got excited about everything we saw.
Our driver from Exeter to Nelspruit airport was okay. I don’t think he spoke English very well so didn’t say much.
Benguerra Lodge…what can I say but WOW!! How cool to have our very own butler. He would deliver our breakfast every morning to our lanai. They took us snorkelling one day, picnic at a private beach which had the most beautiful sand and warm water and a sunset cruise on a catamaran. Every time we got back they had cold towels and drinks for us. Nothing was a problem. The only small complaint was the bar service. They weren’t thatgreat at mixing drinks and I had to get ice for my wine as I like my white wine cold. Such problems!!
Did okay on the helicopter but don’t think I will rush out anytime soon for another ride.
The Residence was very nice but unfortunately didn’t get to enjoy it much since we were only there for a short time. Had drinks and dinner which were very good. Would have been fun to explore it.
Leonard our tour guide for Soweto and the Aparthied Museum was very good. He kept us on track and we managed to accomplish everything we needed to, getting to the airport in plenty of time for our flights. He was very knowledgeable and kept us well informed.
South African airlines was excellent every flight. We sure don’t get that kind of service on our Air Canada. Lucky to get a drink of water never mind a meal and wine like on SA.
We never met a crabby person our whole trip. Everyone was more than happy to help us in any way and happy to hear how much we were enjoying your country.
Hope this is of help to you. Wouldn’t have changed a thing. Can’t say there was one highlight as there were so many. I will definitely recommend you to anyone I know who is travelling to Africa.
My Mom couldn’t understand why I wanted to go to Africa and when I told her I would return in an instant, she was surprised.
I will send a few pics along. Thank you again.
