Peace, tranquility and sweeping views over the Madikwe Game Reserve are guests’ first impressions of Rhulani Safari Lodge, together with the warm welcome and luxurious comfort. Located in a scenic part of this malaria-free Big 5 reserve, which is easily accessible from Johannesburg, the lodge offers luxurious accommodation in individual bush chalets and excellent game viewing, not just of the Big 5 but of a wide variety of creatures, including the rare wild dog, cheetahs and a host of plains game.
Seven luxurious chalets spread out from the main lodge with soaring thatched roofs and spacious private decks. Here you can relax in the shade on a comfortable lounger and gaze out over the bush, or dip in your own plunge pool between game drives. Very comfortably furnished with big beds enclosed in mosquito netting canopies, wooden floors, air-conditioning, and Morso fireplaces for cosy winter evenings, the rooms are decorated in warm earth tones with a simple African aesthetic. The oval bath tubs are set in the window so that you can enjoy the views as you soak, and there are both inside and outdoor showers. The family villa has two large en-suite bedrooms and a spacious lounge and can sleep six.
Two game-drives a day explore the game-rich reserve, where fascinating sightings are tracked down by the experienced rangers. While the elusive leopard cannot be guaranteed, guests are sure to enjoy viewing lion, elephant, cheetah, wild dogs and a host more game, small and large. There are bush walks escorted by your vigilant ranger, and wild-life visiting the lodge water-hole to be viewed in between times. Enjoy a massage on your private deck to relax even further, then gather for meals to share the thrills of the day’s sightings in the dining room or under the stars around the boma fire, the fitting conclusion to a day experiencing the ultimate African safari.
