Sanctuary Kusini is the only permanent camp along the Great Migration path of the Serengeti; a location chosen by local guides and experts for year round wildlife sightings. Overlooking the world-famous plains of the Serengeti, Sanctuary Kusini is a luxury camp for safari enthusiasts, with twelve open-plan tented suites – each with their own personal attendants. The camp was built with the wildebeest migration in mind, as well as the cheetah calving season between mid-December and March. Safari drives afford wildlife enthusiasts the splendour of Big 5 sightings, as well as hundreds of bird and animal species.Read More

Many factors contribute to Sanctuary Kusini’s year-round occupancy. Built around kopje (rocky outcrop) the views are just breathtaking. The communal area boasts a dining room, lounge, library and outdoor dining area, with a campfire. Sundowners are sensational, surpassed only by stargazing on a cosmic safari from the top of the kopje.

Lodgings are luxurious and comfortable, with 12 tented suites blending naturally into the wild surrounds. The 48 square metre suites are shaded by Acacia trees, positioned for the best views of the plains. Each tent is thoughtfully decorated, with large viewing decks extending outside for sundowners and game-viewing. Guests have often spotted buffalo, lion and zebra from their own private viewing decks!

Game drives head off in the mornings and late afternoons, offering safari enthusiasts sightings of the big 5 and other wildlife. Experienced guides know the territory like the back of their hands, and delight guests with their vast knowledge of the animals and their habitat. Large predators – lion, cheetah and leopard – are often spotted on drives and near the kopje.

The spectacular wildebeest migration is one of those unforgettable moments in one’s life, taking place between January and March. This corner of the Serengeti was chosen for being so rich on wildlife which includes elephant, buffalo, wild dog, giraffe and hyena, to name a few.

Guests are treated to sumptuous buffets and meals throughout the day, culminating in a festive dinner under the stars, with stories traded around the campfire, with the world’s most beautiful display of stars shining down.
