Situated on a private concession in Botswana’s Okavango Delta bordering the renowned Moremi Game Reserve, Sanctuary Stanley’s Camp is an intimate and classically tented camp set amongst the shade of sausage and ebony trees. Located on the southern tip of Chief’s Island, the Camp is renowned both for its plentiful game viewing as well as unique elephant interaction experience.
A small luxury camp, Stanley’s Camp is made up of eight classically styled safari tents, each one delightfully furnished with handcrafted beds, luxurious linen, antique furniture and oriental rugs. Each tent comprises of en-suite facilities and a private balcony with expansive views over the surrounding area.
Guests can go on guided walks, game drives in open 4×4 vehicles, or on a mokoro canoe excursion which is subject to water levels and available all year round. Or they can simply relax in a hammock on their private balcony overlooking the Boro River and soak up the sublime surroundings of the Okavango Delta.
This Botswana Safari destination offers superb game viewing opportunities including several active hyena dens located close to the Camp, as well as the opportunity of spotting the elusive and rarely seen wild dog.
Sanctuary Stanley’s Camp also allows visitors the unique educational experience of walking with a trio of orphaned African elephants. At an additional cost guests can gain a better understanding of these majestic animals and interact directly with them by attending two sessions entitled ‘Meeting the herd’ and ‘Joining the herd’.

The intimate camp features only eight safari canvas tents, each individually designed, furnished with African antiques that exude a classic and understated elegance that harks back to the explorers and colonialists of the 19th century. Each tent has a large wooden deck providing private areas where you can relax in a hammock while soaking in the surrounding sights and sounds or enjoy cocktails, before dinner is served in the spectacular dining mess.
