Set in the luxurious Sabi Sands Reserve, part of the greater Kruger National Park, Savanna Private Game Reserve is a haven of wilderness exclusivity, perfect for the discerning safari-goer. Harking back to a bygone era, Savanna’s three executive suites and four luxury suites boast canvas roofs set over permanent structures – thereby creating a true safari experience but with the necessary luxuries that make a visit here so special. Game viewing over the 10 000 ha of the Savanna reserve is a wildlife experience of note, with trained rangers pointing out the Big Five, as well as smaller mammals and other wildlife of the African bush. Game is plentiful on the reserve, as it boasts a number of dams and waterholes, especially attracting game in the dry winter months.
The personalised service guests can experience at Savanna is exceptional. Guests who book the Savanna Suite have a personal butler during dinner as well as a dedicated ranger, tracker and game-viewing vehicle. For a family group or close friends, the Savanna Suite is perfect: this thatched-roof suite boasts two en-suite bedrooms, with their own decks and plunge pools and are separated by a shared lounge area with a TV and DVDs.
All suites are decorated with warm woods, cool tiles, crisp linens and luxurious touches such as freestanding baths, outside showers, and fine linen, creating a classic, colonial air. The executive suites also boast their own plunge pools.
A viewing loft, open lounge with cosy couches and fireplace, bar, library with internet access as well as a large pool and garden area are some of the spaces where guests can relax after a day of safari activities. Outdoor dinners in the boma are a must, lit only by lamps, and an open fire or how about a candelit bush dinner? Guests are entertained by a local choir while feasting on quality cuisine and award-winning wines.
Children will love the Bushbabies programme: activities are geared to educate and entertain with spoor identification, bird-watching, bug catching, garden picnics, night-time frogging expeditions and a visit to the local village.
