Serena Mountain Lodge is situated at the portal to Tanzania’s popular northern safari circuit, on the lush shores of Lake Duluti and at the foot of one of Africa’s highest mountains, Mount Meru. Nestled between coffee plantations, where – in colonial times –a working coffee farm was run, this lodge is rich in character and hosts a variety of accommodation options, activities and attractions. At the Serena Mountain Lodge one can relax and enjoy breathtaking views of Lake Duluti whilst sipping on a drink or dining on its banks. It’s also conveniently located a mere 60 kilometres (38 miles) from Kilimanjaro International Airport.
Hinting back to the opulence of the bygone colonial era, yet with an undeniable African charm, the Serena Mountain Lodge offers a host of well equipped en-suite thatched huts situated on the neatly kept grounds with its extensive green lawns, terraces and lavish flower gardens. The huts are thatched with banana-stems and cooled by the shade of tropical trees. Both double rooms with King Size beds as well as twin rooms are available, furnished with wood and rich African fabrics, and equipped with ceiling fans and mosquito nets. Each guest room has a private balcony where visitors can appreciate the splendid views of this stunning location. The lodge further consists of a beautiful stone-built reception, exquisite lounge, library, restaurant, bar, gift shop, business centre, and tented conference room.
Visitors can partake in the many activities this area has to offer, including guided nature walks, biking on Mount Meru, canoeing on Lake Duluti and a visit to Arusha National Park with its series of magnificent crater lakes. The forest on the slopes of Mount Meru is home to an abundance of wildlife to explore, including monkeys and a myriad of bird species. Back at the lodge one can unwind with a relaxing massage or enjoy a board game in the library, high tea with delicious cakes or a picnic in the gorgeous surrounds.
The Serena Mountain Lodge, with its gorgeous grounds, friendly staff and authentic charm will form a special part of an unforgettable African safari.
