The tranquil Shumba Bush camp lies in the centre of the Busanga Plains in the northern part of Kafue National Park. The Plains and wetlands that extend to the horizon and beyond, are home to abundant birdlife and game, offering 750 square km of unspoilt territory where African wildlife roam freely. Shumba, meaning lion, lives up to its reputation and boasts a high concentration of these predators, as well as wild dog and cheetah, that are lured in by prolific African game such as wildebeest, zebra, buffalo and buck. Secluded and peaceful, the camp also attracts abundant and varied birdlife.

Six intimate and luxurious en-suite tents on raised platforms make up the camp. Spacious and elegant, the high vantage point of the tents make it possible to view game from the comfort of your own suite. The open-sided thatch-covered communal area is great for socializing or for sitting quietly and enjoying the sounds of nature.

In the evening, guests can sit under starry skies alongside a large central fire that is surrounded by a deck and comfy seating – a perfect spot to enjoy a sundowner or share a nightcap. A plunge pool provides respite from the African heat and a relaxing space to enjoy the African sunshine.

Hot-air ballooning and helicopter flips showcase the vast expanse of this splendid landscape. 491 species of birds make the plains and wetlands their home and puku, roan, red lechwe and oribi abound. Sundowners over the plains blend into night drives that reveal the adventures of nocturnal African game.
