One of only two camps in the remote game rich Nsefu Sector of the South Luangwa National Park, Tena Tena is the ideal location for a truly unique and authentic camping safari. Situated on the banks of the Luangwa River, the gorgeous Tena Tena Camp holds an understated sense of luxury, as it gives an authentic camping experience yet with great comfort and service, and the added bonus of privacy. Nestled within a grove of mahogany trees, the camp consists of five intimate, spacious canvas tents with well appointed with en suite bathroom facilities and verandahs.
One can get close to nature by enjoying a refreshing outside shower overlooking the surrounding bush, maybe even spotting an animal or two. The tents can be opened up during the day and are located with both superb views and optimal privacy in mind. The camp’s main area is magically fused with nature, shaded by an open canvas roof perched on large wooden poles, and with earthy seating and furnishings made of natural materials stylishly balanced with luxurious soft upholstery and cushions.
The area around Tena Tena is a prime location for game watching. Leopard, hippo, elephant, lion, antelope, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, warthog and hundreds of bird species are to be seen here. Excellent guided day and night game drives are conducted in open 4×4 vehicles and walking safaris allow visitors to experience Africa by foot. Seasonal boating is possible, conditions permitting, promising a completely different angle to viewing and experiencing wildlife.
Guides are extremely passionate and experienced and aim to give a well-rounded experience of the local fauna and flora. Being home to hundreds of bird species, this area is any bird watchers delight.
